"Jazz Guitar" This is "Jazz Guitar" an 20 x 24 mixed media painting done on gallery wrapped canvas. It was inspired by the music of Jesse Cook , one of my favorite musicians.  I know. It doesn't look like a guitar. It's not suppose to. This is a painting about my reaction to and feelings while listening to the music. Bright. Happy. Energetic. Ready to boogie (yes, I dance while I paint. No, you will not see it. During the month of October I will be showing some of my work along with others at ArtCurious Gallery in Boone's Creek, Tn. "Pear Trees at Sunset" 24" x 30" mixed media abstract on gallery wrapped canvas I really look forward to the start of Spring. It means winter is over and that color is returning to nature along with the warm weather. I love to see the pear trees near my home start to bloom. All that fluffy whiteness against the lovely bed buds just coming out. This painting began as a challenge. To work on one painting for fifteen days. Of course, it went beyond the fifteen days. At first it was a struggle to paint that long because I do not really paint that long on one painting. After struggling with my last painting for a week, this painting was done much faster. Why? It’s because I had fun doing it. The last one was too controlled, too tight. It was not lose enough. This one was more intuitive and free flowing except for the parts I chose to control like the placement of the molding paste for texture and the lovely little pink circles. I have no idea what they are. They just felt right to do. After staring at the painting for a while I have decided to call it Fire Meets the Sea. I see flowing lava, sea spray, and vegetation.
