My Artist Statement

I am a self-taught intuitive painter who strives with color, texture, and line to express my feelings for the mysteries of the natural world. 
I take much of my inspiration from nature. I love the way tree limbs twist in the winter, the dark hidden places between the leaves in summer, the colors of spring and autumn, the textures of weathered wood, river stones, and flower petals.

In my work I like to catch the viewers’ eyes with bold colors and a sense of mystery, intrigue them enough to draw them in closer, so that they can see the texture of the paintings. I would like to keep their attention by the details, what I call the “sweet spots”-the unexpected glint of gold or glitter, the hidden burst of bright color, or a texture not seen at first. I would like the viewers to find something new every time they look at the painting.
