Autumn Leaves Like Life

Image
Beautiful Autumn colors. You know, life is like these leaves. Beautiful and colorful. Then the wind comes and disturbs it, some leaves that becomes weak falling, but look. The tree still stands, the leaves are still beautiful, and His Light still shines through and illuminates those beautiful colors of your life.  #lifeisbeautiful   #autumncolors   #autumnleaves   #hislightshines   #waitonthelord

So Long Summer

Image
This painting began as a challenge. To work on one painting for fifteen days. Of course, it went beyond the fifteen days. At first it was a struggle to paint that long because I do not really paint that long on one painting. So Long Summer 36 x 36 gallery wrapped canvas Mixed media $900 + shipping After fighting with it, using colors I don't normally use, covering them back up, and just getting mad and making marks out of frustration, I finally hit a point I began to like it and the process. Mind you, I'll not do a fifteen day thing again. I just can't work that long on one piece, but I will definitely try to go beyond my comfort zone. Here are some close up of some of the "sweet spots". And yes, there are some sparkle to the yellow because I threw in some white glitter for fun. And I used my favorite mark maker, a gold oil stick. materials-acrylic paint, canvas, oil sticks, spray paint, white glitter, pastel canyons, molding paste, ...

Abstract on Paper: Storm Warning

Image
The smell of honeysuckle and ozone heavy in the night air, the last ray of light of a summer day, a field of wild heather as far as one can see. These are what inspired this new painting, a 18 x 24 mixed media done on watercolor paper. After I laid down the first layer I realized that I would lose the great effect I got with the water drops on the water color base, so I put a layer of mat medium over it to save it. That enabled me to put down fresh color without the risk of mixing the two colors.  I also accidentally put color where I did not want it because I was not paying attention, but it actually worked. So I am adding this technique to my list of techniques to use.

Fire Meets the Sea-an intuitive painting

Image
Fire Meets the Sea 18"x 24" Mixed Media on Canvas If you want to own this painting go to my website kellyjeanetteswift.com to purchase. After struggling with my last painting for a week, this painting was done much faster. Why? It’s because I had fun doing it. The last one was too controlled, too tight. It was not lose enough. This one was more intuitive and free flowing except for the parts I chose to control like the placement of the molding paste for texture and the lovely little pink circles. I have no idea what they are. They just felt right to do. After staring at the painting for a while I have decided to call it Fire Meets the Sea. I see flowing lava, sea spray, and vegetation. I actually love this one a lot. I wish you could see the details on this piece. Another Painting Through The Pain Painting

Image
Might have to consider this a series. I seem to be working off my pain issues through my painting. Don't have as much texture as I usually use, but it is done on paper, so don't want to risk making it too heavy. 18 x 24 mixed media on watercolor paper with acrylics,                                      gold oil stick, and interference paint.

Title-Frosted Cattails $460  +  shipping 24 x 36 on stretched canvas Acrylic and mixed media Why I created this painting-I usually do not like any thing to do with winter, but with the recent really cold nights I noticed that the little frog pond near my house was frozen over and the cattails where covered in frost and ice.
