The Ocean Calls


A new painting! 24x36 and I had so much fun doing this one. I don't know, but maybe I have fell into what excites me.

I am listening to Artistically Speaking on Blog talk radio with Rebecca E. Parsons. This time she is interviewing intuitive artist Sandra Pineault. A great interview that I found very interesting as I have started doing this myself. Not trying to look like everyone else and giving in to my love of colors, shape, and texture.

The Ocean Calls, I think, came out of my need for warmth and sun and the sea. Thinking about the sea a lot lately. I guess I'm looking forward to my vacation trip to the coast in May. Is it May yet? :(

    Gorgeous, I can see the oceanic theme. Sometimes just going with your intuition produces amazing results!

    I adore this painting. What serendipity that I am working on an abstract in exactly same colors. Yours is so perfect, though, that I think I'll just feat my eyes on it!

    I went to the ocean today actually, and this really made me think of it. The swirls, color, and peace I see in your beautiful painting is how I felt walking on the beach between sand and water, and looking at the sunset <3

    Beautiful painting! Full of imagination & movement. I could meditate on it for ages. Thanks for visiting my blog. Its fab that we were both thinking of the ocean and similar themes for our paintings this week.

    I'd love to learn more about intuitive painting. Its something I try to do but need to practice at trusting the process. I shall have to look up the blog radio.

Obstacles

New work will be posted as soon as I can get the weather to cooporate with me. My house has bad lighting so I have to go outside to take good pictures. It's sunny today, but very cold and windy. Maybe I should buy a lamp with natural light bulbs. Costly, but good investment. I really would like to find a way to market my work into resellable items-prints, cups, cards, etc. Then I could put them on zazzle.com. I would also like to invest in a good printer. There is a site called CraftCount.com that list the top 100 sellers in all categories on etsy. I check out the top artists selling and realized that they all had one thing in common. Prints. All were selling prints of their work. Even though I like doing one of a kind paintings, prints could up my sales. I could leave corporate America sooner. Wish me luck!

  I just did these aceos. I have trouble selling my art, but on eBay I sell quite a few of these. I don't get much but I would like to keep doing these during my retirement.

The Wind

Number four on my Love List is the wind. It just popped in there without a conscious thought on my part. I do love the wind. I love to stand in my yard and experience an incoming storm, the building up of the wind until I'm forced to go in. I love the wind off the ocean and it's smell. I love the wind in Autumn and the smells of dry leaves and wood smoke. The wind is what causes movement in nature, causes the leaves to swirl around in a dance, the bare branches to talk, the tall grasses to whisper. The wind is what erodes stone, smooths it down, moves sand in the deserts, causes waves.
