The Night

Tenth on my list is the Night. I love the night. I love it's quiet stillness. The small animal sounds, the coolness. I love the stars, the moon, the light rains. I'm a night owl. I do my best work at night.

Ruth and Naomi walking through a village among the wheat field. The story of Ruth and Naomi in the Book of Ruth is a beautiful story of love. The love of Ruth for her mother-in-law Naomi, the love of Naomi for Ruth and her wish for Ruth to have a good future after the death of Naomi's husband and sons. Also the love of Boaz for Ruth. And even though the Lord is not mentioned in the story I can also see His love for us, His children.  I was actually struggling with this painting as an abstract until I was passing it on my way out of my studio and happened to look at it and saw the figures of the two women, the older and the younger. I like to think that the Holy Spirit showed them to me. The work is done on a 12 x 12 wooden panel.
